Phoiod (Igor Tikhonov) is a Moscow based media artist, electronic music producer and partly - programmer. He pushed out two amazing minimal techhouse tracks. First up is Citadel which has a nice drive to it. Absolute clubbing material! Next up is Persus9. Expect warm experimental techhouse suited for the dancefloor. Freaky vocals, freaky sounds, we love it! Citadel has been remixed by Bip Soup, who gave this track a nice bigroom sound. The whole EP got massive support from all sorts of artists (such as Pheek, Someone Else, Kasper & Papol, Hakan Lidbo, Brett Johnson) and has been charted on Resident Advisor! >> 17.02.09 Phoiod released his track Event Horizon on Multi Vitamins label!
The wonders of MVD various artists compilation are back, introducing the powerful number 7 of the series. MVD07 is characterized by very playful resources which are presented in the enjoyable way by the artists that participate. It is an impressive example of how good electronic music is not being divided by genres but unite and present a perfect score. The compilation's chilled atmosphere at the beginning-experimental sounds and deep groove beats-transforms and delivers a dancefloor feeling-working that kick drum and bass. MVD07 did not want to be an intermittent concept deliberately, so that the listener will explore and discover views of markedly different artists. Bip Soup offers two deep tech-house gems here with the title track "Hangar" having thick deep chord stabs complimenting the sparse bass line which eventually builds up to an eerie sci-fi break at just the right time. Having elements of both house and minimal techno working well together to be an instrumental track for DJ's to transition either direction in a set. The second track "Supercargo" is mechanical swinging tech-house floor filler. So many moving parts in the percussion all-playing off each other brilliantly with a ton of decay on the effects building into a juggernaut of a track that can see itself being played to the very end. First release on Momentum from a Russian artist Igor Tikhonov (aka Phoiod), and indeed a really talented one. His three tracks appear really fresh, especially cy30 with its acrobatic vocalizing could partly remind on some previous Raudive-releases, but more minimal orientated they appear to open up a new definition of how minimal techno can be produced without becoming boring!
